ABS provided statistics related to the production of agricultural commodities

Australian Bureau of Statistics has provided statistics on the production of principal agricultural commodities, including cereal and broadacre crops, horticulture, and livestock:

  • According to the ABS, there were 369 million hectares of agricultural land as of June 2022, a decrease 5% from 2020-21
  • Australia has produced 36 million tonnes of wheat, which is a 14% increase as compared to 2020-21
  • It has reported 7 million tonnes of canola production, which surged by 43% from 2020-21
  • There were 70 million sheep and lambs on farms on 30 June 2022, up 3%, and 22 million beef cattle at 30 June 2022, which increased 1% as compared to 2020-21.
