%Mid-Market: S&P/ASX 200 Trading Lower; KLS Declined By More Than 17%

On 26 February 2025, at AEDT 12:30 PM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading lower today, declining 18.30 points or 0.22%, and is currently trading at 8,233.60 levels. Out of 11, 7 sectors are trading lower along with the decline in the S&P/ASX 200.

The Energy and Industrials sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 1.25% and 0.40% in their index values. On the other hand, Consumer Staples and Telecommunication Services sectors are the top 2 declining sectors, declining 1.12% and 0.91% in their index values.

Bapcor Limited (ASX: BAP) and Worley Limited (ASX: WOR) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 16.147% and 10.734% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Kelsian Group Limited (ASX: KLS) and Flight Centre Travel Group Limited (ASX: FLT) are the top-losing stocks and are declining by 17.680% and 12.275% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

• Flight Centre shares dropped 12% despite underlying profit growing by 7% to $117 million, as the travel booking service set a record for productivity through automation.
• Woolworths Limited’s shares dropped after the supermarket giant suffered a more than 20% decline in first-half net profit. The supermarket giant lost $240 million in sales following three weeks of strikes at its distribution centres before Christmas.
• Oil prices fell about 2% to a two-month low in the previous session on weak economic news from the U.S. and Germany that fed fears of slower energy demand, along with signs from several countries that oil output was on track to increase.
• The Dow has closed up by 0.37%, the S&P 500 closed down by 0.47%, and the NASDAQ ended lower by 1.35%.
• Hang Seng is down by 1.32%, and FTSE 100 is up by 0.11%.
