%Mid-Market: S&P/ASX 200 Trading Lower; Dragged Down By Healthcare And Tech Sectors

On 18 November 2024, at AEDT 11:30 AM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading lower today, declining 15.40 points or 0.19%, and is currently trading at 8,269.80 levels. Out of 11, 6 sectors are trading lower along with loss in the S&P/ASX 200.

The Utilities and Materials sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 1.21% and 0.70% in their index values. On the other hand, Healthcare and Information Technology sectors are the top 2 declining sectors, declining 1.37% and 1.21% in their index values.

Deep Yellow Limited (ASX: DYL) and Boss Energy Limited (ASX: BOE) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 7.894% and 7.517% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Healius Limited (ASX: HLS) and Life360 Inc. (ASX: 360) are the top-losing stocks and are declining by 7.304% and 5.759% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

  • National Australia Bank’s shares are declining today on news that the securities watchdog was suing the lender for contravening the National Credit Code between 2018 and 2023.
  • Resolute Mining Limited’s shares dropped after agreeing to pay US$160 million ($247 million) to Mali as CEO Terence Holohan and three staff remain detained by authorities. 
  • Life360 Inc. is also declining following co-founder and chief executive Chris Hulls reduced its shareholding in the company by selling more than 1% of equities.
  • The Dow has closed down by 0.70%, the S&P 500 closed down by 1.32%, and the NASDAQ ended lower by 2.24%.
  • Hang Seng is down by 0.05%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.09%.
