ASX/200 Closed Lower by 1.24%, Dragged down by Consumer Discretionary

By the end of the trading session on 20 December 2024, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed lower by 1.24% and settled at 8,067.00. Out of 11 sectors, 08 sectors ended lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Utilities and Energy are the top-gaining sectors, gaining 1.54% and 1.24% in their index value. On the other hand, Consumer Discretionary and Financial are the top-losing sectors, losing 2.53% and 2.40% in their index value.

Karoon Energy Limited (ASX: KAR) and Ventia Services Group Limited (ASX: VNT) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 5.284% and 3.768% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Bellevue Gold Limited (ASX: BGL) and Siteminder Limited (ASX: SDR) went down by 5.556% and 5.008% respectively are the top-losing stocks.
