ASX/200 Closed Lower by 0.06%, Dragged down by A-REIT

By the end of the trading session on 04 February 2025, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed lower by 0.06% and settled at 8,374.00. Out of 11 sectors, 08 ended lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Information Technology and Materials are the top-gaining sectors, gaining 1.52% and 0.93% % in their index value. On the other hand, A-REIT and Consumer Discretionary are the top-losing sectors, losing 1.11% and 0.76%

Vault Minerals Limited (ASX: VAU) and Pro Medicus Limited (ASX: PME) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 3.633% and 2.024% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Audinate Group Limited (ASX: AD8) and Lynas Rare Earths Limited (ASX: LYC) went down by 4.509% and 3.811% respectively are the top-losing stocks.

  • Oil prices fell after US President Donald Trump postponed new tariffs on the country’s two largest crude suppliers by a month.
  • US stock markets showed positive momentum, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising by 0.31%, the S&P 500 gaining 0.92%, and the NASDAQ climbing 2.03%.
  • In international markets, the Hang Seng Index increased by 1.63%, while the FTSE 100 declined by 1.04%.
