ASX/200 Closed Higher by 0.27%, Lifted by Financial

By the end of the trading session on 16 September 2024, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed higher by 0.27% and settled at 8,121.60. Out of 11 sectors, 07 sectors ended higher along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Financial and Telecommunications Services are the top- gaining sectors, gaining 0.89% and 0.84% in their index value. On the other hand, Healthcare and Utilities are top- losing sectors, losing 0.95% and 0.79%  in their index value.

Alcoa Corporation (ASX: AAI) and Domain Holdings Australia Limited (ASX: DHG) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 10.212% and 10.108% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Emerald Resources NL (ASX: EMR) and Telix Pharmaceuticals Lithium Limited (ASX: TLX) went down by 6.373% and 5.827% respectively are the top-losing stocks.

  • US Market Performance: The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 0.72%, the S&P 500 rose by 0.54%, and the NASDAQ gained 0.64%.
  • The Hang Seng index is up by 0.03%, and the FTSE 100 has increased by 0.39% today.
