Woodside Sells 40% Stake in Louisiana LNG to Stonepeak for US$5.7 Billion to Accelerate Development

Woodside Energy (ASX: WDS) has entered a binding agreement with global infrastructure investment firm Stonepeak to sell a 40% stake in Louisiana LNG Infrastructure LLC. Under the agreement, Stonepeak will contribute US$5.7 billion (approx. AU$ 8.7 billion) towards the foundation development of the Louisiana LNG project, with 75% of the capital to be invested in 2025 and 2026.

This strategic investment significantly reduces Woodside’s upfront capital expenditure, strengthens near-term cash flow, and enhances project economics ahead of its Scarborough Energy Project revenues. The project will be operated by InfraCo, jointly owned by Woodside and Stonepeak, and built under a lump-sum EPC contract with Bechtel. Stonepeak’s contribution reflects confidence in the project’s value and reduces risk via fixed capital obligations. A further equity sell-down is planned, targeting up to 50% in the integrated project. The transaction will be completed in Q2 2025.
