West African Resources Limited (ASX: WAF) an unhedged gold mining company, to announced favourable outcomes from resource estimation and scoping studies conducted below the M5 South open-pit at the Sanbrado Gold Operations in Burkina Faso. The maiden underground Mineral Resource Estimate unveiled 2.4 million tonnes at 3.8 grams per tonne of gold, totalling 289,000 ounces of gold. Additionally, the Underground Scoping Study revealed promising highlights, projecting an average annual production of 35,000 ounces over a 5-year study period.
This development also anticipates a potential increase of up to 25,000 ounces annually in Sanbrado's gold production, optimizing mining operations by utilizing the same fleet as M1 South. Furthermore, there's potential for extending the underground mine life with an Exploration Target, projecting a range from approximately 2 million tonnes at 3 grams per tonne for 225,000 ounces, to around 3 million tonnes at 4.5 grams per tonne for 425,000 ounces of gold. The resource remains open at depth, offering possibilities for further optimization through infill and extensional drilling from the M1 South access drive.
