The Star Entertainment Group Appoints Steve McCann as New Group CEO and Managing Director

The Star Entertainment Group (ASX: SGR) has appointed Steve McCann as its new Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, effective July 8, 2024, subject to regulatory approvals. McCann is an experienced global executive who served as CEO of Crown Resorts, leading the company through significant reforms, and as Group CEO of real estate firm Lendlease Corporation for over a decade. Before that, he held senior leadership roles at ABN AMRO and Bankers Trust.

The Star's Board is pleased to have secured a CEO of McCann’s caliber, citing his experience and ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders as crucial in leading the company’s remediation program and restoring confidence. McCann expressed his commitment to addressing the complex challenges facing The Star and driving sustainable change. The appointment is ongoing, and termination provisions include 12 months’ notice or immediate termination for specific events, a 12-month non-compete period, and a fixed remuneration of $2,500,000 per year.
