S&P/ASX 200 Trading Lower By 0.48%; Endeavour Group Dived more than 9%

On 23 August 2022, at AEST 12:10 PM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading lower today, declining 33.80 points or 0.48%, and is currently trading at 7,013.10 levels. Out of 11 sectors, 7 sectors are trading lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.

The Energy and Materials sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 1.21% and 0.77% in their index values. On the other hand, Consumer Staples and Financial sectors are the top 2 losing sectors, declining 2.36% and 1.43% in their index values.

Altium Limited (ASX: ALU) and Ansell Limited (ASX: ANN) are the top gaining stocks, gaining 18.376% and 10.381% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Endeavour Group Limited (ASX: EDV) and EML Payments Limited (ASX: EML) are the top losing stocks and are declining 9.916% and 7.556% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

• Altium Limited’s share price jumped more than 18% to $35.340 after the company reported a 57% increase in profit after tax while revenue grew 23% to $US220.8 million.
• Ansell Limited’s shares are also trading higher after forecasting FY23 EPS of $US1.15 to $US1.35, from a result of $US1.252 in FY22, or $US1.386 on an adjusted basis.
• Endeavour Group slides 9.91% despite reporting an 11.2% jump in profits, with solid trading continuing in the first seven weeks of this financial year.
• Oil prices rose today after Saudi Arabia warned that OPEC could cut output to correct a recent drop in oil futures.
• Dow has closed down 1.6%, S&P 500 down by 1.8%, and NASDAQ closed lower by 2.2%.
• Hang Seng is down 0.37%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.22%.
