Victory Metals Limited (ASX:VTM) has conducted successful metallurgical tests on drill samples from the North Stanmore Rare Earth Element Project in Western Australia. The tests involved beneficiation, which demonstrated the potential to reduce downstream processing costs and capital costs per product tonne. By rejecting coarse material, the average rare earth oxide grade (TREO) increased from 1308 ppm to 2192 ppm.
Analysis showed that up to 70% of rare earths are found in the fine fraction (-20 µm), which represents only 28% of the total mass. The beneficiation testwork on a composite of 31 samples resulted in an average rare earth element upgrade of 68%, with a recovery rate of 58% and a mass rejection of 66%. The company is currently conducting a Stage 2 metallurgical testwork program to produce a mixed rare earth carbonate (MREC) as the final product. Victory Metals expects to release its initial JORC Mineral Resource Estimate in the coming weeks, along with the positive results from the beneficiation testwork program.
