The Board of Pilbara Minerals Limited (ASX:PLS) has given the green light for the P1000 Project, which aims to increase the Pilgangoora Project's production capacity of spodumene concentrate by 47% from approximately 680,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) to approximately 1,000,000 tpa. The project includes an expanded concentrator with increased throughput at the Pilgan Plant and supporting site infrastructure. It will be executed in parallel with the ongoing P680 Project, which will add an additional 100,000 tpa to the current production capacity of 580,000 tpa.
The P1000 Project is targeting first ore in March 2025, with full production following commissioning and ramp-up at the end of September 2025. The estimated capital expenditure for the project is AU$560 million, which includes the previously announced pre-FID investment of AU$38 million. Strategic options are being evaluated to maximize value from additional products from P1000, including long-term spodumene offtake with existing and new customers, as well as joint venture partnering opportunities to further integrate the business downstream.
