Petratherm Discovers High-Grade Titanium Mineralization at Muckanippie

Feb 19, 2025

Petratherm Limited (ASX: PTR) has announced promising results from its greenfields exploration drilling at the Muckanippie Project in South Australia. The drilling uncovered a new style of high-grade titanium-rich heavy mineral (HM) mineralization hosted in saprolite clay. Key prospects—Nardoo, Duke, and Claypan—returned significant intercepts, with mineralization starting from or near the surface and extending to depths of 40-60 meters.

Initial separation tests confirmed a high-grade ilmenite-dominant composition, suggesting potential for open-pit mining. The discovery spans a 16-kilometer magnetic trend, indicating large-scale resource potential. Petratherm plans further drilling and metallurgical studies to assess the viability of mining operations.

The project aligns with Australia's strategy for securing critical minerals, as titanium is on the country’s Critical Minerals list. The Muckanippie discovery, alongside the Rosewood HMS find, strengthens Petratherm’s position in the sector, offering potential for a substantial domestic supply.
