Partnership for Clean Energy: NOVONIX and Panasonics Graphite Deal

NOVONIX Limited (ASX: NVX) and Panasonic Energy Co., Ltd. have officially inked a binding agreement for the supply of high-performance synthetic graphite. This material will fuel Panasonic's North American electric vehicle (EV) battery production. Over the 2025-2028 period, NOVONIX commits to supplying at least 10,000 tonnes of synthetic graphite from its Chattanooga, Tennessee facility. The agreement allows for increased volumes if demanded.

Panasonic aims to localize its supply chain and cut its lithium-ion battery carbon footprint by 50% by 2031. This collaboration aligns with broader incentives, such as the Inflation Reduction Act, which supports domestic battery production. NOVONIX's Riverside facility, set to commence operations in late 2024, will receive US$100 million in grant funding to boost capacity. Both companies express enthusiasm for advancing clean energy initiatives in North America.
