NextEd Group Limited: Proposed Limits on Commencement of International Students from 2025

NextEd Group Limited (ASX: NXD) issued an update regarding the Federal Government's proposed limitations on international student commencements. The government aims to implement an annual National Planning Level to regulate new international student commencements into vocational and higher education courses in Australia, beginning 01 January 2025.

The proposed 2025 NPL stands at 270,000 international student commencements, with 175,000 designated for the higher education sector and 95,000 for the vocational sector, pending the passage of the Education Services for Overseas Students Amendment Bill 2024. Details regarding NPL limits beyond 2025, operational procedures, potential differentiation between regional and metropolitan campuses, higher caps for courses aligned with workforce demand, and adjustments for existing operators in case of industry exits are yet to be finalized.
