Minbos Resources Limited (ASX: MNB) has expressed interest in pursuing the production of Yellow Phosphorus, or P4, from its existing phosphate resource at the Cácata mine in Angola, as well as new licenses currently under application. The company estimates an additional CAPEX of only US$1.7 – US$3.3 million to double the capacity of the beneficiation plant for this Stage 2 expansion if it proves feasible. Angola presents an attractive opportunity for P4 production due to its cheap electricity prices and economic free zone.
Additionally, the company has submitted applications to secure prospecting licenses in Angola to support further phosphate exploration. Minbos Resources Limited's P4 strategy will allow for the utilization of medium-grade phosphate rock with a high silica content that is unsuitable for the fertilizer market, combining it with cheap electricity in Angola to supply a critical mineral in the battery materials supply chain.
