All 11 sectors are trading higher along with the S&P/ASX 200. The Utilities and A-REIT sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 3.03% and 1.30% in their index values.

Core Lithium Ltd (ASX: CXO) and Chalice Mining Limited (ASX: CHN) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 9.558% and 8.597% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Newcrest Mining Limited (ASX: NCM) and Neuren Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX: NEU) are the top-losing stocks and are declining by 1.279% and 1.048% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

• Origin Energy Limited’s shares are rising after the ACCC authorized the US$18.7 billion buyout of ASX energy giant by Brookfield and MidOcean.
• Weebit Nano gained today after the company confirmed its Israel-based operations had been unaffected by the Hamas-led attacks over the weekend.
• Newcrest Mining is down after the takeover target is set to appear in court for a second time on October 17 to approve its proposed buyout by global gold mining giant Newmont. 
• Oil prices jumped more than 4%, gold gained, and the safe-haven U.S. dollar edged up against the euro on Monday as military clashes between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas fueled worries that the conflict could spread beyond Gaza.
• The Dow has closed up by 0.59%, the S&P 500 up by 0.63%, and the NASDAQ ended higher by 0.39%.
• Hang Seng is up by 0.18%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.03%.
