Mid-Market: S&P/ASX 200 Trading Higher By 0.23%; Ahead Of RBA Monetary Policy Decision

On 06 November 2023, at AEST 11:20 AM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading higher today, gaining 16.20 points or 0.23%, and is currently trading at 6,994.40 levels. Out of 11 sectors, 10 sectors are trading higher along with the S&P/ASX 200.

The Healthcare and Information Technology sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 1.64% and 1.09% in their index values. On the other hand, the Energy sector is the only losing sector, declining 0.95% in its index value.

Weebit Nano Ltd (ASX: WBT) and Silver Lake Resources Limited (ASX: SLR) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 7.435% and 5.924% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Block Inc. (ASX: SQ2) and Coronado Global Resources Inc. (ASX: CRN) are the top-losing stocks and are declining by 5.778% and 3.989% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

• The S&P/ASX 200 inched higher in the opening moments of trading this week as bond and equity traders carefully await the Reserve Bank’s cash rate decision on Tuesday.
• Westpac’s shares are higher, after reporting a 26% jump in full-year net profit to $7.2 billion and an improved 72¢ final dividend. It also announced plans for a $1.5 billion on-market share buyback, reflecting its strong balance sheet.
• Weebit Nano Ltd’s shares are gaining today and are amongst the best performers after recording its first-ever revenue of US$100,000.
• The Dow has closed up by 0.66%, the S&P 500 up by 0.94%, and the NASDAQ ended higher by 1.38%.
• Hang Seng is up by 2.52%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.39%.
