Locksley Resources Limited (ASX: LKY) has signed an agreement to acquire a highly promising rare-earth elements (REE) exploration project adjacent to the Mountain Pass Mine in California, USA. The Mountain Pass Mine is owned by MP Materials, the largest producer of high-grade rare-earth materials in the western hemisphere, accounting for approximately 15% of the global rare earth supply. The newly acquired project, known as the Mojave Project, has demonstrated significant potential with high-grade TREO rock-chip results of up to 9.49%.
The Mojave North Block, located 1.4 km northeast of the Mountain Pass Mine, is part of the project and has the potential to host several REE deposits. REEs are vital for modern society, playing a crucial role in renewable energy, electronics, and defense systems. Locksley has received commitments for a AU$4 million placement at AU$0.06 and also holds an option to acquire 100% of the mineral claims comprising the El Campo Prospect.
