Legacy Minerals Holdings Limited (ASX: LGM) reported the initial findings from field work conducted by its exploration alliance partner, Earth AI, at the Fontenoy Project. The investigation has confirmed the presence of nickel-iron sulphide (pentlandite) and platinum group elements (PGEs) in the fresh rock samples. Petrography and scanning electron microscopy revealed the presence of pentlandite with notable concentrations.
Additionally, rock chip assays unveiled encouraging results, including up to 0.80% nickel (laterite), 8.30% copper, 585ppm cobalt, and traces of platinum, palladium, and gold. These findings highlight the prospectivity of the Fontenoy Project for nickel-iron sulphide deposits and warrant further investigation, particularly in relation to the adjacent Ordovician Moonbilleen gabbro. Earth AI will continue its AI-driven exploration efforts before defining drill targets for future testing in collaboration with Legacy Minerals Holdings Limited.
