The Laffer Prospect in northeast Tasmania has shown promising signs of a significant tin system, according to reconnaissance mapping and rock chip sampling conducted by Flynn Gold Limited (ASX: FG1). The preliminary work suggests that tin mineralization is present in the form of coarse cassiterite within a sheeted greisen vein system spanning at least 1 kilometer. Out of the 35 rock samples analyzed, 21 exhibited tin values exceeding 0.1%, with the highest grade reaching 3.58% Sn from cassiterite-bearing quartz veins.
Additionally, elevated lithium values of up to 0.16% Li2O were detected in quartz-mica greisen samples, indicating the potential presence of lithium-bearing micas associated with the tin mineralization. Historical mining records, remote sensing data, and ongoing field programs suggest that the mineralized vein system at Laffer could extend up to 3 kilometers. This area is recognized as an emerging lithium-mica district in northeast Tasmania.
