Lachlan Star Limited (ASX: LSA) has initiated diamond drilling at the Basin Creek Prospect within its 100%-owned Junee Project in New South Wales. The program, covering up to 2,100 meters, aims to explore the continuity and down-plunge extents of high-grade chalcopyrite (copper sulphide) mineralization. Key historical drill intercepts include 21.3 meters at 4.51% copper, with 4.6 meters at 18.54% copper, and 3.1 meters at 5.50% copper.
The drilling, expected to take 6-8 weeks, will also test broader disseminated mineralization. CEO Andrew Tyrrell emphasized the potential of discovering additional near-surface copper in a system that has remained unexplored for over 50 years. Lachlan Star intends to update shareholders on the progress throughout the program. The Basin Creek project is part of the company’s focus on gold and copper exploration across its priority projects in the mineral-rich Lachlan Fold Belt.
