IEC Acquires Promising Lithium Project in Western Australia

Jan 15, 2024

In a strategic move, Intra Energy Corporation Limited (ASX: IEC) has acquired an 80% stake in the Maggie Hays Hill lithium project in Western Australia's Lake Johnston region from Global Uranium and Enrichment Limited (ASX: GUE). Situated 25 kilometers north of recent spodumene discoveries at Burmeister Hill and Lake Medcalf, the project boasts outcropping pegmatites along a 2-kilometer trend.

The lithium-rich area is also near Charger Minerals' recent tenements, where Rio Tinto has entered into a farming agreement. IEC plans an accelerated exploration program for lithium, gold, and nickel, capitalizing on the advanced nature of the region. The project, adjacent to the Emily Anne nickel mines, is accessible and prospective for lithium, nickel, and gold. Notably, lithium spodumene targets have been identified along a 2-kilometer trend, indicating significant potential for exploration and development.
