Hyperion Discovery: Promising Rare Earth Anomaly at Arkun Project, WA

Jan 04, 2024

Recent soil geochemistry surveys at Impact Minerals Limited’s Arkun Project in Western Australia revealed a significant Rare Earth Element (REE) anomaly at the newly identified Hyperion prospect. The anomaly spans over 3 km², with concentrations of up to 5,880 ppm Total Rare Earth Element Oxides and Yttrium (TREO +Y) and Nd+Pr up to 21%. This high-tenor anomaly, open along strike to the northwest and southeast, is situated in weathered granite and represents a promising target for a large clay-hosted REE deposit. The broader granite area covers approximately 170 km², yet to be explored.

The Swordfish prospect, 10 km southeast of Hyperion, also exhibits a significant anomaly. These findings, coupled with the previously reported Horseshoe prospect, highlight the substantial REE exploration potential at the Arkun Project. Impact Minerals plans early drilling and bulk sampling for metallurgical test work in the next two quarters, aiming to assess the economic viability of extracting REEs through acid leaching. The Hyperion discovery marks a breakthrough in exploring the Arkun Project, originally focused on nickel, platinum, and copper.
