Fortuna Metals Advances Mkanda Project with Laboratory Commissioning and Resource Milestones
Fortuna Metals Limited (ASX: FUN) has successfully commissioned its in-country laboratory in Lilongwe, Malawi, marking an important operational milestone for the Mkanda Rutile and Graphite Project. The facility has been established to process samples internally, reducing assay turnaround times and lowering exploration costs while supporting faster project advancement. A team of 15 technicians has been trained under the company’s operating procedures, with quality assurance validated through duplicate testing against external laboratory results. Exploration activities continue to progress, with approximately 62% of the planned 6,000m hand auger drilling program completed and a 5,000m aircore drilling campaign scheduled to commence in early July. The company is also advancing technical studies with support from Mineral Technologies and expects to deliver its maiden Inferred Mineral Resource Estimate in early July 2026. Management believes ongoing drilling and resource development activities will strengthen the project's potential across rutile, graphite and rare earth mineralisation while supporting Fortuna’s transition toward becoming a future supplier of critical minerals.
