Market Alert: ASX200 at Critical Support – Reversal or Further Fall?
Firebird Metals (ASX: FRB) has commenced lithium manganese iron phosphate cathode active material testing in collaboration with Central South University of Hunan under a binding strategic agreement signed in October 2024. So far, five batches of LMFP CAM have been produced and processed into button batteries for analysis, with 100 batches expected.
This innovative process eliminates the need for manganese sulphate crystallization, reducing costs by approximately US$167/t (~32% savings) while enhancing LMFP quality. CSU’s globally recognized expertise in battery materials positions Firebird as a key player in the evolving Li-ion battery market.
Test results will support a Scoping Study, with the potential expansion of the pilot plant to one metric tonne per day of LMFP production. Firebird is now among a select group of non-Chinese companies—and the first Australian—to produce LMFP batteries, reinforcing its strategy to become a low-cost, high-quality leader in the global battery market.
