Downer EDI Limited: Spotless to Defend ACCC Legal Proceedings

Downer EDI Limited (ASX: DOW) firmly denies the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s allegations of past violations of Australia’s competition law and will vigorously defend against legal actions. The ACCC has informed Downer that it has initiated civil proceedings related to allegations concerning estate maintenance services provided to the Department of Defence by a Downer subsidiary, Spotless Facility Services Pty Ltd, along with two other organizations, BGIS and Ventia, which were appointed to provide the services in different regions. The alleged conduct occurred in 2019 and 2020. Downer has actively engaged with the ACCC during its confidential investigation and has thoroughly considered the matters raised. The company believes that neither Spotless nor the two employees mentioned by the ACCC participated in any unlawful conduct.
