DigitalX Limited (ASX: DCC) updated shareholders that the DigitalX Bitcoin Fund increased by 5.7% to a spot price of US$68,352. In comparison, the DigitalX Fund increased by 9.5%, outperforming the S&P Cryptocurrency Top 10 Equal Weight Index (AUD), which also increased by 9.5%. The digital asset market outperformed the All-Ordinaries Index, which increased by 0.5%, and gold (AUD), which declined by 0.9% during the month.
Additionally, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved eight spot Ethereum ETFs on May 23, 2024. As of the end of May, the applicants were finalizing the S-1 registration statements required before trading can commence on exchanges, and the timeline for this process remains uncertain. Some analysts speculate that trading could begin as early as mid-June. The market was surprised by the change in the approval outlook for the US-based spot Ethereum ETFs, with Bloomberg analysts increasing their approval odds from 25% to 75% just two days before the SEC's decision.
