Chilwa Minerals Limited presents an attractive heavy mineral sands assemblage at the Chilwa project

Chilwa Minerals Limited (ASX: CHW) unveiled the findings of a comprehensive mineralogy study at the Chilwa Project in southeast Malawi. The study meticulously examined 46 samples from the Mposa deposit, currently the focal point of its sonic drilling program. Before the ongoing sonic drilling, the Mposa Main deposit boasted a Mineral Resource estimate of 19.4Mt at 4.3% Total Heavy Minerals, including 3.2% Ilmenite and 0.4% Zircon, based on air-core drilling with recoveries of less than 70%. However, its current sonic drill program consistently delivers 95-98% sample recoveries, with THM grades from recent assays consistently surpassing the previous air-core results.

The mineralogy study unequivocally validates the substantial presence of Ilmenite, zircon, and monazite at the Chilwa Project and the exciting discovery of rutile. The analysis of 46 concentrate samples yielded impressive results, with concentrations ranging from 4-54% ilmenite, 4-50% Pseudo rutile, 1-10% Rutile, and 2-12% Zircon.
