Can Greenvale’s Alpha Project Move Closer to Commercial Bitumen Production Following Latest Test Results?
Greenvale Energy Limited (ASX: GRV) has reported encouraging progress from Test Program 7 (TP7) at its Alpha Project in Queensland, where product assessment work undertaken by Technix has advanced the Company's objective of producing a bitumen product that meets Australian C-170 specifications. Technix successfully characterised samples generated by Monash University, removed volatile light-end fractions through atmospheric and vacuum distillation, and achieved flash point compliance with C-170 requirements. Penetration testing also returned results within the required specification range. While viscosity performance remains below the targeted standard, the results indicate that the material is behaving increasingly like commercial bitumen. The next phase will involve applying Technix’s proprietary Multistage Bitumen Process (TMBP), which is designed to enhance viscosity and penetration characteristics before independent certification testing. The Alpha Project hosts an Inferred Mineral Resource of 28.6 million tonnes containing an estimated 27.7 million barrels of synthetic oil equivalent, positioning it as a potentially strategic domestic source of bitumen and hydrocarbon products for Australia.
