Alkem Limited Attains First Production Milestone in Olaroz Stage 2

Allkem Limited (ASX: AKE) announced the successful commencement of first production at Stage 2 of the Olaroz Lithium Facility. The recent milestone resulted in the production of wet lithium carbonate cake using filter presses. Managed in collaboration with Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) and JEMSE, the Olaroz Stage 2 development boasts a nameplate capacity of 25,000 tonnes per year (tpa) of technical grade lithium carbonate.

With mechanical completion at an impressive 99.5%, the focus now shifts to the commissioning process, where production volumes and product quality will be incrementally increased over the next 12-18 months. Upon completion of this ramp-up phase, the combined Olaroz Stage 1 and Stage 2 infrastructure will yield a total nameplate capacity of approximately 42,500 tpa of lithium carbonate.
