Mid-Market: S&P/ASX 200 Trading Lower; Oil Prices Gained More Than 2%

On 13 March 2025, at AEDT 12:30 PM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading lower today, declining 8.10 points or 0.10%, and is currently trading at 7,778.10 levels. Out of 11, 5 sectors are trading lower along with the loss in the S&P/ASX 200.

The A-REIT and Information Technology sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 1.25% and 1.17% in their index values. On the other hand, Energy and Consumer and Healthcare sectors are the top 2 declining sectors, declining 0.71% and 0.19% in their index values.

Bellevue Gold Limited (ASX: BGL) and Capricorn Metals Limited (ASX: CMM) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 6.041% and 5.107% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Yancoal Australia Limited (ASX: YAL) and Inghams Group Limited (ASX: ING) are the top-losing stocks and are declining by 11.571% and 6.079% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

• Boss Energy Ltd’s shares were among the biggest gainers, rallying after it increased a stake in uranium developer Laramide Resources.
• Silk Logistics plunged 12.0% after the competition watchdog raised concerns over stevedore DP World’s takeover bid.
• Oil prices rose 2%, as U.S. government data showed tighter-than-expected oil and fuel inventories, though investors kept an eye on mounting fears of a U.S. economic slowdown and the impact of tariffs on global economic growth.
• The Dow has closed down by 0.20%, the S&P 500 closed up by 0.49%, and the NASDAQ ended higher by 1.22%.
• Hang Seng is down by 0.76%, and FTSE 100 is up by 0.53%.
