%Mid-Market: S&P/ASX 200 Trading Higher; Lifted By A-REIT And Consumer Staples Sectors

On 25 November 2024, at AEDT 11:30 AM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading higher today, gaining 61.10 points or 2.05%, and is currently trading at 8,454.90 levels. Out of 11, 10 sectors are trading higher along with the gain in the S&P/ASX 200.

The A-REIT and Consumer Staples sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 1.72% and 1.56% in their index values. On the other hand, Financial sector is the only declining sector, declining 0.30% in its index value.

Guzman Y Gomez Limited (ASX: GYG) and Lovisa Holdings Limited (ASX: LOV) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 4.031% and 3.751% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Megaport Limited (ASX: MP1) and Tabcorp Holdings Limited (ASX: TAH) are the top-losing stocks and are declining by 4.360% and 2.804% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

  • The Australian share market reset its all-time high minutes after opening amid investor bullishness about an imminent Trump administration and energy stocks pushing higher from an escalation in the Ukraine-Russia war.
  • Synlait Milk Company shares dropped despite lifting its forecast base milk price for the 2024/2025 season thanks to stronger global commodities prices.
  • The Dow has closed up by 0.97%, the S&P 500 closed up by 0.35%, and the NASDAQ ended higher by 0.16%.
  • Hang Seng is down by 1.89%, and FTSE 100 is up by 1.38%.
