Regulatory Update on Sydney Casino Management

The Star Entertainment Group Limited (ASX: SGR) has received notice from the New South Wales Independent Casino Commission (NICC) regarding the extension of Mr Nicholas Weeks' appointment as the manager of the Sydney Casino. This development follows previous announcements on October 17, 2022, and December 16, 2022, which detailed Mr Weeks' initial appointment and its extension until January 19, 2023.

Extended Term and Regulatory Approval

The NICC has formally requested the extension of the Manager's term through regulation, aiming to prolong it until June 30, 2024, unless otherwise terminated by the NICC before this date. Notably, the NICC has emphasized that this extension is intended to be the final one and underscores its intention to conclude the Manager's tenure by mid-2024.

Focus on Remedial Action and Regulatory Compliance

The NICC's decision to extend the appointment period is motivated by a desire to provide The Star with additional time to demonstrate its capacity for the necessary remedial actions. The objective is to satisfy the NICC's requirements, allowing The Star to regain suitability and resume gaming activities in line with the provisions of the Sydney casino license.

Ongoing Engagement for Remediation Plan

The Star Entertainment Group continues its active engagement with both the NICC and the appointed Manager, Mr Nicholas Weeks. The discussions primarily revolve around the approval of the remediation plan concerning the Sydney Casino, which is still pending approval in New South Wales, and other pertinent matters. The Star remains committed to working collaboratively with regulatory bodies to address concerns and ensure compliance with all stipulated regulations.
