Shell has recently awarded Worley Limited (ASX:WOR) a contract for professional services to support the development of the Holland Hydrogen 1 facility in the Port of Rotterdam. This facility, upon completion, will stand as Europe’s largest commercial renewable hydrogen production site.

Renewable Hydrogen Production:

The Holland Hydrogen 1 facility, once operational, is projected to produce approximately 60,000 kg of renewable hydrogen per day. This renewable hydrogen will serve as a sustainable alternative to grey hydrogen, significantly contributing to the decarbonization efforts of fuels at Shell’s Energy and Chemicals Park in Rotterdam.

Sustainability Impact:

Worley's detailed design, procurement, and construction management support services will facilitate the integration of associated assets, including offshore wind, pipelines, and electrical grids. This initiative not only aims at partial decarbonization of fuels at the facility but also intends to supply renewable hydrogen for use in the heavy transportation sector, thereby advancing sustainable practices in the industry.

Global Collaboration:

Worley's services for the Holland Hydrogen 1 project will be executed through its offices in the Netherlands, with additional support from its Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teams in India. Leveraging Worley's global hydrogen subject matter expertise, the company aims to ensure the successful implementation of the project.

Sustainable Partnership:

Chris Ashton, Worley’s Chief Executive Officer, expressed pleasure in continuing the partnership with Shell to support its net-zero emissions target by 2050. This collaboration aligns with Worley’s commitment to delivering sustainable solutions, marking a significant step towards a more environmentally conscious future

Conclusion:

With Worley's expertise and Shell's commitment to sustainability, the Holland Hydrogen 1 facility represents a groundbreaking initiative in renewable energy production. As efforts intensify to combat climate change, partnerships like these are crucial for driving innovation and fostering a greener, more sustainable world.
